Artistry in Silver and
Steel: Volume I Adolph
Bayers spent more than forty years making bits and spurs. This book is the
first volume, which will include all of Mr. Bayers’ records scanned
directly from his original record books and papers. Volume
I of “Artistry in Silver and Steel” represents 763 pairs of spurs made
by Adolph Bayers. These spurs are numbered 2 through 276 and were made
between 1952 and 1978. Within the book are 159 photographs with
16 pages of color. This book also contains the orders for the famous
number 218 polo spur, which was designed by Adolph Bayers and Harold
Barry. This polo spur has been worn and highly prized by the world-class
players from around the globe. Mr. Bayers made bits and spurs for cowboys
from several large ranches in the West Texas area. This first book features the Pitchfork Ranch near Guthrie, Texas. Bob Moorhouse furnished
some exceptional ranch photographs for this section. 351
