Combination Set #2

Three NRHC structures are featured on this postcard. Picket and Sotol House (1904, 1905) Built to "prove up" a homestead near Ozona in Crockett County, Texas, the walls are made of cedar posts, native sotol stalks and mud chinking. The roof is thatched with local grass. Waggoner Ranch Commissary (c. 1780s) A storehouse for food and supplies, the Commissary was built at a crossing of the Red River near Electra in Wichita County, Texas, convenient for cattle drivers going from Texas into Oklahoma. El Capote Cabin (c. 1840) From Guadalupe County and typical of the log structures of the Texas Republic, this simple log cabin has been linked with royalty, politicians, war heroes and future United States President Teddy Roosevelt. Postcard measures  5-1/2 by 4-1/4 inches.
